Science Behind the Product How does LipSense® stay on your lips? LipSense® molecularly binds to the skin (it adheres to your skin).
Why do I have to use three layers? The binding effect of LipSense begins to break down when exposed to the pH of the skin. Because the first LipSense® layer is constantly exposed to the pH of the skin of the lip, the first layer will begin to break down the fastest. The second layer of LipSense® is protected from exposure to the lip's pH by the first layer, therefore, the second layer does not break down as quickly as the first. Additionally, the third layer of LipSense® sandwiches the second layer of LipSense® between the first and third layers. The second layer of LipSense® is then protected from the top down - and the bottom up! Three layers of LipSense® are required for the most beautiful, longest lasting effects. Can I use 4 layers? Four and in some cases, five layers of LipSense® may be applied to the lips. Multiple layers of LipSense® may be applied, but only with the lip color formulations that have a thin viscosity. The viscosity (thickness) of each one of the lip colors is different based upon the color formulation. Some viscosities are thin while others are thick and dense. For example, colors like Dark Pink and Sheer Pink are very thick and dense. If four or five layers of either of those two colors were to be applied to the lips, it may literally peel off of the lips as each layer, one on top of the other build into a thick coating of color. On the other hand, Princess Pink and Ruby Red are very sheer, thinner formulations and five or six layers may be applied to the lips without becoming too thick, or may be used as layers number four or five to be used atop of more densely three layered colors. What is the main liquid ingredient of LipSense®? The main liquid ingredient of LipSense® is SD-Alcohol 40 (SDA40). SDA40 is thinner than water and can better suspend the tiny ingredients that are needed in the product. More importantly, SDA40 evaporates so that when actually placed on to the lip with the wand, the SDA40 delivers all the needed ingredients of the lip color to the lips and then SDA40 evaporates, leaving behind the long lasting color technology. Is SDalcohol40 the same as Isopropyl Alcohol? SDA40 is completely opposite of isopropyl alcohol. To prove this point think about this: Isopropyl Alcohol can be used to instantly remove LipSense® lip color; where by SDalcohol40 is a necessity to apply LipSense® onto the lips. What else does the SDalcohol40 do? SDA40 is used for another important reason: For antiseptic capabilities. SDA40 helps maintain LipSense® as a germ and bacteria free environment. Each time a wand touches the lips, the wand is exposed to bacteria and germs. The bacteria and germs on the wand are eliminated when the wand is placed back into the tube. Each tube of LipSense® is germ and bacteria free. This is why the product may be used to the very last drop. LipSense® does not become chunky or smelly, due to an accumulation of germs and bacteria often found in other types of tube/wand application products. LipSense® has a shelf life of at least seven years. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
